Children's Work

Children play an important role in the community life of HBC and we hope they find the Church a welcoming and safe environment to be in. We aim, as a church family, to provide for their needs both spiritual and social. Throughout the week we meet many different children and families from the local community.

Sunday Mornings:

On Sunday's we are priveledged to meet with an amazing group of children. They join us for the first part of the service, at 10:30am, where quite often, they'll share with us something they have been doing in their groups, through dance, drama and music. Then it's time for them to leave us and go to their age relevant groups Crèche (Pre-School), Followers (yr R + KS1) and Xplorers (KS2) where they look at a story from the bible, learn about Jesus and talk about what it means to follow Jesus at their age and stage of life, and of course have a good fun time together while they are there!

In the week:

Chatterbox Logo

Chatterbox is a lively group for toddlers and their parent carers. Babes in arms, crawlers, toddlers, and their carers from our local community come along for a natter and a play on Thursdays and Fridays from 1-3pm. If you have, or look after a little one and would like to meet others who have toddlers, then you are more than welcome to come along and join us.Email Chatterbox.

The Wave is a new club for all primary school aged children. The club aims to be a safe environment where children can get to know others and make friends through free play, organised games and a shared snack time, where we hear a story from the bible.

The group is small in number but slowly growing and we invite any 5 to 11 year olds to come and join us on Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm. Contact Cathy (details below) to find out more.

Uniformed Organisations also meet on our premises throughout the week. We welcome children from around the local community through the different uniformed organisations – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows and Brownies.

Also...We are forming good links with the local primary schools around the church and are looking for ways to develop these further. Cathy, our children and families worker, regularly goes in to Bishop Road Primary school to assist in the morning activities, such as reading and literacy.

We know the pressures and struggles facing family life today and seek to offer support through the provision of parenting courses. If you wish to talk to someone about any struggles you are facing there are a few links below which may be of interest to you.
