Children's Work

Children are an important part of our church life and we hope they find it a welcoming and safe environment to be in. We aim, as a church family, to provide for their needs both spiritual and social. Throughout the week we meet many different children and families from the local community.

As well as our regular activities we also host a variety of other events throughout the year.

Sunday Mornings:

On Sundays we are privileged to meet with an amazing group of children. They join us for the first part of the service, at 10:30am. Then it's time for them to leave us and go to their age relevant groups Crèche (Pre-School), Followers (yr R + KS1) and Xplorers (KS2) where they look at a story from the bible, learn about Jesus and talk about what it means to follow Jesus at their age and stage of life, and of course have good fun together while they are there!

In the week:

Chatterbox Logo

Chatterbox is a lively happy playgroup for toddlers from o to Preschool and their carers, whether parents, grandparents or other carers.

It is an opportunity for the children to play, and carers to get to know each other in a relaxed environment. The sessions are term time only on Friday mornings from 10 – 12 and we would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining us with your little ones.

Please contact for further information and who will be happy to register and add your child to the waiting list which is currently operating, as although the hall is large and accommodating we do our best to avoid overcrowding.

Uniformed Organisations also meet on our premises throughout the week. We enjoying hearing what they are up to and meeting them on parade Sundays. We welcome children from around the local community through the different uniformed organisations – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows and Brownies.

Also...We are forming good links with the local primary schools around the church and especially enjoy sharing the Easter stories with them through our Easter Experience. If you are a teacher in Bishopston and would like to know more about this short but exciting trip for your class, please contact the church office.

We provide events for children, families and the local community- to keep up to date with what we are doing at Horfield Baptist, keep an eye on our Events page.

We know the pressures and struggles facing family life today. If you wish to talk to someone about any struggles you are facing there are a few links below which may be of interest to you.
